Navigating ageing, illness, or living with a lifelong condition can make it difficult to continue with the everyday activities that matter to you. It's easy to fall into a cycle where doing less leads to lower confidence and life satisfaction, which can cause further withdrawal, and, eventually, a decline in skills. Research shows that ongoing participation in varied, valued activities is one of the greatest contributors to our overall wellbeing.
My role is to help you prevent disengagement by focusing on your individual strengths and enabling your abilities. We can thoughtfully adapt your activities and routines to provide the ideal balance of support and gentle challenge, ensuring you always feel able to participate.
Because energy levels and symptoms tend to fluctuate, the support I offer is very flexible. We can adjust the approach day by day:
On more difficult days: I will step in with extra assistance to avoid exacerbating pain or fatigue.
On your best days: I will step back when you are feeling well and able to do more independently.
Personal assistance can take many forms, from helping with daily routines like meal preparation, shopping, and managing your household, to helping you engage in your favourite leisure and relaxation activities. It also includes supporting you to monitor your wellbeing and navigate health appointments. By maintaining these vital activities and connections, we can protect your sense of identity, and your continued ability to live a fulfilling life within your familiar surroundings.
