With an initial background in psychology (BSc Hons), I began my career in public policy and strategy. However, a desire to work directly with people and make a difference to those experiencing difficulty in my community, led me to transition into health and social care.
Before completing a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy in 2012, I worked for several years as an NHS Physiotherapy Assistant, whilst also undertaking voluntary Life Coaching with the Citizens Advice Bureau.
Since then, I’ve gained experience supporting individuals in a broad range of settings, including the NHS, Adult Social Care, private, and voluntary sectors. I have worked across multiple areas of practice, incorporating reablement, falls prevention, end of life care, complex rehabilitation and case co-ordination, mental health care, and independent advocacy.
In doing so, I have supported individuals with a wide range of needs including:
Adults experiencing acute and long-term physical health conditions
Individuals navigating mental health conditions
Neurodivergent individuals
People living with progressive and acquired neurological conditions
Through my varied experience and ongoing training, I have developed a flexible, integrative practice that draws on a wide range of approaches to meet an individual’s specific needs.
Currently, I work as an independent Occupational Therapist and Personal Assistant within New Buds Support, often collaborating with other health and social care professionals as part of a multi-disciplinary team. I also provide specialist rehabilitation as an Associate of Think Therapy 1st.
